The General Surgery Residency Program at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, GA has an ACGME accredited CATEGORICAL training position available at the PGY3 level beginning July 1, 2026. Please see the specific requirements and instructions for applying below. NOTE: It is the policy of Northeast Georgia Medical Center to sponsor J-1 Visas only.
PREREQUISITES (no exceptions):
Successful completion in good standing of TWO years of US clinical training in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency training program (or currently enrolled in a PGY2 year for the 2025-26 academic year). Must have graduated from an Accredited Medical School or International Medical Graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates)

Three (3) current Letters of Recommendation. Including one from the current Program Director will be required.
Rotation schedule with Competency-Based Evaluations for ALL completed rotations
Current year semi-annual Evaluation
Current ACGME “General Surgery Defined Category and Minimum” and “General Surgery Year 2 Minimum” case log reports
ACLS, BLS and ATLS certification
FLS and FES Certifications (if available)
Copy of ECFMG (if applicable)
Copy of current DS2019 for J-1 Visa holders (if applicable)
