Term: 1 year minimum, 2 years preferred
The Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is inviting applications for postdoctoral research fellow positions commencing on June 22nd, 2026. Selected candidates will engage in basic science and clinical research spanning all subspecialties of plastic surgery, contributing to approximately 10-20 projects annually.
Opportunities:
- Engage in clinical and basic science research across our diverse portfolio.
- Gain significant experience in research methodology, journal authorship, and grant applications.
- Collaborate with a large academic faculty on multiple research studies, enhancing skills in study design and execution.
- Work closely with students, residents, and clinical fellows in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
- Beyond research, fellows will participate in weekly didactic and educational conferences, gaining exposure to the latest advancements in plastic surgery.
- Fellows will have access to world-renowned plastic surgeons, as well as clinical and laboratory facilities, including microscopes for microsurgical skills practice.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and execution of research studies under the guidance of the Research Director, Research Vice Chair, and clinical faculty members.
Prepare manuscripts for publication and participate in grant writing.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an ACGME-accredited surgery residency program or a medical student taking a dedicated research year.
A strong interest in pursuing a career in plastic surgery. - Work permit/Green card holder or US citizen
