- PGY-1 Categorical Resident
Description
The General Surgery Residency Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-PB (Odessa/Midland) is seeking applicants for anticipated categorical PGY-1, PGY-2, and PGY-3 positions beginning July 1, 2026.
This opportunity is contingent upon receiving ACGME Continued Accreditation status and approval for complement expansion. Pending ACGME approval, recruitment activities are expected to begin between late April and early May. All applicants are encouraged to apply now. The program will review applications as they are received. Once notified by the ACGME of Continued Accreditation status and approval for complement increase, the program will begin conducting interviews via Zoom for qualified candidates.
Qualified applicants must be graduates of an accredited medical school and eligible for appointment in an ACGME-accredited residency program. Candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance, professionalism, and a commitment to a career in General Surgery. Eligibility for Texas medical licensure is required.
Please note: If ACGME approval for complement expansion is not granted, the program will not proceed with applicant interviews.

- MSPE (Dean’s Letter)
- USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores (Step 3 if available)

- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation (one preferred from a Department of Surgery or Program Director)
ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
